Shannon Nadine Engleson

October 11, 1949 — November 8, 2023

Shannon Nadine Engleson of Pocatello, Idaho passed away of natural causes at her home on October 31, 2023 at the age of 74. She was born October 11, 1949 in Pocatello to Calvin and Shirley (Fife) Coziah.

Shannon spent her early years at the American Falls and Henry's Lake fish hatcheries. She then moved to Grace where she graduated from Grace High School in 1967. She attended Business College for 2 years in Boise. She went to work at Idaho Bank & Trust as a personal secretary before becoming the bookkeeper at Alpine Pet Hospital. In 1995 she became a co-owner of Alameda Pet Hospital. She worked there until her retirement in 2014. She was never without one of her beloved "Yorkie" dogs at her side.

Shannon married John Engleson in 1978. John and Shannon were active members of the Flying Farmer Organization, and she served as the Idaho Flying Farmer Queen 1980-1981. Together they would fly to conventions across the United State and Canada with John piloting his plane "34 Papa".

Shannon loved animals and frequently shared stories from her youth about exotic and wild animals as well as the many domestic cats and dogs she had all through her life. She enjoyed the outdoors — especially bird watching, fossil hunting and fishing at Dike Lake/Blackfoot Reservoir where the family had a cabin. Many memorable weekends were spent at the cabin. Snowmobiling in Island Park was also a favorite activity of hers during the winter months.

Shannon loved to entertain, and the family has special memories of fun activities during the holidays.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband John in 2013 and his daughter Jan Vier. She is survived by her son Lyle Engleson (Yvonne) of Ventura, CA, her brother Kevin (Shelly) Coziah of Soda Springs, ID, Lorne Engleson of Pocatello, ID, Bryan (Silvia) Engleson of Camas, WA, and by Carla (Jon) McNeil of Blackfoot, ID. She had five grandchildren: Heidi, Lisa, Brooks, Mike and Eli. She was also blessed with four great grandchildren: Parker, Braden, Savannah and Alexandria.

She will be buried in Lava Hot Springs.
