Shirley Rae Mills

July 31, 1950 — July 1, 2022

Shirley Rae Robinson Mills passed away on July 1, 2022 in her home in Chubbuck, Idaho. She and her husband Tom were longtime residents there for over 50 years. She was born on July 31, 1950 to Myrl and Phyllis Robinson in Emmett, Idaho. The family moved to American Falls when Shirley was 5 years old where she was raised and graduated from high school. Shirley was the 3rd child in her family of 6. She married Richard (Tom) Mills in 1971 in American Falls and later moved to Pocatello. Shirley worked at the Extension Office, as a Substitute Teacher for School District #25 and was involved in Ala-Non where she helped many people.

Shirley’s hobbies were crafting and making anything with a glue gun! She loved going for weekends with Tom in their trailer and playing a round of golf with any opportunity that arose. She loved to shop the bargains and find a garage sale whenever she had the chance. Shirley was a great cook and liked to make anything that didn’t take much time or effort. She was a planner and was organized. She liked to get things done and was a go getter! If there was anything that needed to be done, she was the first to jump at the chance, even if it was the dishes! Shirley made us happy and she made us laugh, she was the life of any party.

Shirley was just like her Mom, and absolutely adored basketball. She was a number one Utah Jazz fan with Tom and loved watching the games on TV or attending whenever she could. The last game she attended was with a lot of her family members where they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in November 2021.

She adored her grandchildren and was so proud of their accomplishments. She attended their games, their recitals, plays, weddings or anything they were involved with. Family meant everything to Shirley and she spent many hours helping Chalyse take care of hers.

She was preceded in death by her loving son, Kirk; her parents, Myrl and Phyllis Robinson; her sister, Janice; her brother, Brent; her nephew, Kent and her brother-in-law, Richard.

She is survived by her husband, Tom; daughter, Chalyse (Brian) Hall; grandchildren, Taya (Cody) Cluff, Hailee Hall, Jordan (Kira) Hall, Parker (Sina) Hall, Whitnee (Connor) Saari, Karson (Nohelia) Ballard, Hailey Ballard, Evan Ballard, Megan Ballard, Kenneth Jernstrom, Juanita Jernstrom, Angel Dawn Jernstrom, and Chase Hall; brother, Steven (Sherrie) Robinson; sister, Donna (Ken) Hansen; and brother, Blaine (Wendy) Robinson.

The family would like to thank Shirley’s care taker, Donna Tordecillas and all of the Hospice care nurses. They were most kind and helpful to the family.

The viewing will be held from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the LDS Church on 147 Bringhurst St, Chubbuck, ID. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. following the viewing. Interment will follow the service at the Falls View Cemetery in American Falls, ID.
