Susan Jean Pence

d. January 2, 2017

Susan Jean Pence passed away at the age of 73 on January 2, 2017 from complications of sarcoma lung cancer. Susan was born November 9, 1943, in Boise, Idaho, to Henry and Jeanette (Dixie) Tuckett and was the oldest of four children. Susan spent her grade school years in Hailey, Idaho, before her family moved to Pocatello in 1953 where she attended Alameda Junior High and Pocatello High School, graduating in 1962, and Idaho State University. Susan was living in Washington State when she met and married Michael McCabe and had two sons, Darren and Eric. They were later divorced and Susan returned to Pocatello where she found employment with Farm Bureau Insurance, and after more than 30 years, retired as supervisor of the commercial processing department. Susan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had numerous callings over the years. She especially liked Visiting Teaching. She was always willing to help out whatever the request might be. Susan married Ron Pence on October 8, 1979, and they were happily married for 37 years. Susan was a wonderful mother to Rons two children, Cory and Hollie. Susan enjoyed spending time in Island Park and going to the Playhouse Theater, Macks Inn Theater, and Virginia Follies. Susan and Ron made many trips to Yellowstone Park in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. Susan also loved to go on cruise ships and traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, the Panama Canal, and the Caribbean. Since retiring, Susan and Ron enjoyed spending time at Island Park in the summer and being snowbirds in Yuma, AZ, and Bullhead, AZ, in the winter. When meeting someone new or an old friend Susan always had a smile and a hug for everyone she met. Susans family would like to express special thanks to the Relief Society of the Juniper Hills Ward for the numerous meals they brought each week for Ron and Susan. Susan is survived by her husband, Ron; four children, Darren (Karen) McCabe of Riverton, Utah (Kelsi, Michael, Caitlyn, Megan, and Laura), Eric (Lory) McCabe of Pocatello, Idaho (JaVon, Danielle, Kathryn, and Ellysa), Cory (Kim) Pence of Highland, Utah (Alex, Brooke, Austin, and Brandon), and Hollie Pitre of Pocatello (Liam). She is also survived by her mother, Dixie Tuckett of Pocatello; two brothers, Robert (Dee Ann) and Kerry (Julie) Tuckett of Pocatello; and one sister, Linda Reinke (Jim Owsley) of Pocatello. Susan will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
