Theodore (Ted) William Meyer, 82, passed away April 7, 2011 surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. He was born on April 9, 1928 in Herkimer, Kansas to Herman Henry and Therese Franziska Naeser recent immigrants from Germany. He was an obedient and helpful son, a pattern he continued all his life. He attended Grades 1 through 8 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran School in Marysville, Kansas. He worked as a farmer around Odell, Nebraska for 9 years and then went into the U.S. Army for 2 years and 2 days. He then went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad Signal Department for 40 years. His employment with the railroad necessitated moves to 10 cities which helped his family to have a very diverse background. While working and traveling with the Union Pacific he met and married Verna Rae Nelson in Montpelier, ID. She was the love of his life. They have three daughters, Corinne, Theresa and Michele. Later in life Ted and Verna were blessed to be foster parents to LaRayne McCabe. They were later sealed for time an eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple. Ted was a self-made man with a tremendous work ethic. He believed in and practiced hard work. He served quietly and without fanfare and could be counted on to get the job done. He utilized these principles as a devoted husband and father as well as his dedicated service as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved his family and consistently put their needs first. He is survived by his wife, Verna Meyer, Pocatello, ID,and his three daughters, Corinne of Logan, UT, Theresa (Kelly) Terry of Price, UT, and Michele (Curtis) Bruun of Omaha, NE and LaRayne (Matt)McCabe of Colorado Springs, CO, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren as well as his sister, Gertrude Zaleski of Princeton, IL and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
