Tina Marie Fisher

October 15, 1957 — February 17, 2013

Tina Marie Fisher, 55, of Chubbuck passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, February 17, 2013, following her courageous battle with cancer. She had tenacity for life, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and found strength in her Heavenly Father.

Tina was born October 15, 1957, in Pocatello, Idaho to Glen Floyd Hunter and Ella Mae Albert Hunter. Tina was one of seven children including two brothers and four sisters. Tina grew up in Pocatello where she attended Green Acres Elementary School, Alameda Jr. High, and graduated from Highland High School in 1975.

Following high school, Tina attended Idaho State University Vo-Tech where she received a certificate in secretarial studies in 1977. During this time she worked for Green, Service, Gasser, & Kerl as a legal secretary.

While in high school, Tina met the love of her life, Michael Joe Fisher. They continued a friendship which developed into a courtship through their college years. On December 15, 1977, Tina and Michael were married for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. They have been married for 35 years, and together they have an eternal family with five children: Kari, Kristi, Jami, Jodi, and John.

Tina enjoyed teaching 4-H, sewing, cooking, gardening, crafting, crochet, and quilting. She also enjoyed being outdoors in the mountains and doing activities with her family including camping, fishing, skiing, boating, riding ATVs and motorbikes. She loved to travel, go on family vacations, and shop with her family and friends.

In 1992, after her husband was injured on the job, Tina returned to the workforce where she worked as a secretary for Farm Bureau, Idaho State University College of Pharmacy, AMI, and then the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. She worked as a secretary, clerical supervisor and then an information systems coordinator for Health and Welfare for 17 years where she retired in December 2011 due to health reasons.

Known for her many talents, Tina learned to quilt from her mother Ella Mae and passed on her love for quilting to her daughters. She particularly enjoyed making quilts and giving them away as wedding gifts to her children, family, and friends. She made special quilting trips with her daughters and husband and enjoyed using her long-arm quilting and embroidery machines.

Tina also enjoyed serving in the LDS church in Primary, Young Women's, and Relief Society. She especially enjoyed leading the primary music, working in the library, and attending Girls Camp with the young women. She was a spiritual strength to her family and will be dearly missed by all.

Tina is survived by her husband Michael Fisher, her children Kari Fisher of Boise, Kristi (Scott) Smith of Idaho Falls, Jami Fisher of Portland, Jodi (Ben) Mills of Pocatello, and John (Kasenya) Fisher of Pocatello, her granddaughter Adelina Mae Smith, her brothers and sisters Vickie (Jim) Beck of Blackfoot, Todd (Kay) Hunter of Pocatello, Connie (Rick) Scott of Pocatello, Kim (Barbara) Hunter of Pocatello, Cindy (Shaun) Watson of Pocatello, and Carolyn (Terry) Barker of Torrey, UT, nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was preceeded in death by her father and mother Glen Floyd Hunter and Ella Mae Albert Hunter, and her grandparents.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from many family, friends, neighbors, and church members. A special thank you to the staff at Encompass Home Health & Hospice for their loving, supportive, kindness to our mother during the end of her life.
