Violet Carol Reeder, age 99, passed away on the evening of Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Beacon Hospital and Rehabilitation Center. She was born December 26, 1910 in Boulder, Colorado to James and Clara (Gumeson) Janes the youngest of 5 children. Violet married Robert Martin Falan and they had two daughters, Delores and Shirley, they later divorced. Violet then married Melvin Gough and they had a son Jay. Melvin preceded her in death in 1942. She later married LaVaughn "Stuby" Grayson, he died in 1975. She married Harold Reeder in 1976 he also preceded her in death. In her youth she worked at the Blackfoot Creamery, and during the war she worked in Washington at a Naval Ordinance Plant. It was there that she attended night school in Seattle, Washington, studying bookkeeping. Violet put her bookkeeping skills to work in her family plumbing business "Grayson Plumbing" with her husband Vaughn. Violet was a founding and principle member and a charter member of the Silver Sage Riders started in the late 1950's. Her hobbies included dogs but mostly her horses. She bread and showed Appaloosas'. She rode with the Silver Sage in parades and she was instrumental in the organization of the Bannock County Horse Show. Violet is survived by her daughter, Shirley Barrow of Pocatello, Idaho; son, Melvin J. (Myrna) Grayson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; a 101 1/2 year old sister, Annabel Thomas of Portland, Oregon; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson, Cooper and Numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband's; daughter, Delores Riley; three brothers; Ray and Carl Nelson and Paul James. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Hospice Alliance and Beacon Hospital a Rehabilitation Center for their special care attention to Violet. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 South 4th Avenue at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.Colonial-FuneralHome.com.
