POCATELLO - William G. "Bill" Ahrens, 73, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at a care center in Pocatello. He was born on November 14, 1937, in Tacoma, Washington, to Donald and Dorothy Ahrens. He attended Bremerton High School and graduated in the mid 1950's. Bill was an accomplished spring board diver while in high school. He began competing at the age of 16 and went on to win 26 first place trophies at YMCA and AAU championships, as well as capturing the Washington State Championship four times. While attending college he entered the U.S. Armed Force and went to boot camp at Fort Ord. Bill married and had a daughter, Tina. After his divorce he met and married Judy Jeppesen. Judy had 2 children, Glen and Terri. Bill was happy to be the grandfather of 11 grandchildren. His life revolved around collecting and restoring antiques. Antique toy trains were his favorite collectable. Bill is survived by his wife Judy; daughter Tina Ahrens; step daughter Terri (Jon) Wilkinson; stepson Glen Bainbridge; a brother; and 11 grandchildren.
