William Curry "Andy" Andrews, 82, peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father, surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, January 29, 2015. He was born in Abilene, Texas to Travis Wilson Andrews and Gladys Inez McCarty as child number three of six: Jacqueline, Jack, Curry (himself), Mary Ellen, Lucille, Patricia (Patsy). The first three all started 1 st grade at the same time. He married Janet Gail Denny of Gooding, Idaho on June 4 th , 1960 in Hawthorne, California. They are the parents of seven children residing across the country from Utah to Idaho to Washington and Connecticut. He was a stalwart member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; having joined at age thirty-eight. He was honored to be a part of taking the 1 st shovelful of dirt from the building of our chapel in Newtown, Connecticut. Andy has been in every state in the U.S. and 17 foreign countries. He graduated from Hobbs High School in 1950; and served three years in the United States Army (having enlisted with his older brother Jack at the same time). He attended the University of New Mexico from 1953 to 1958; was an Electronics Engineer in the FAA until 1964; worked for Digitech Data Industries of Connecticut until 1980, when he retired; bought a local business and stopped traveling to become Scoutmaster. Other positions he held in the church were, Sunday School President, Ward Mission Leader, Stake Mission Leader, Seventy, High Priest Group Leader and Elder/Missionary in the Texas/Dallas Mission with his wife from 2003 to 2005. He was valiant in every job or calling he received or took on. He had a great voice- was called on to sing at many occasions-low, low base. He was the first one in Hobbs, N.M. to see the teletype of Pres. Roosevelts death. He enjoyed watching his children in their many events and activities like many dance recitals, take piano lessons, play soccer, letter in High School sports, Softballhe was there to support them rain or shine, etc.., mow two acres of grass, etc. and was there for his wife as she was bringing forth children Born in the Covenant. He was allowed and witnessed the birth of our last four out of seven children. Before that, fathers were not allowed and our third one came too fast for them to prepare him. Survivors include his wife of almost 55 years, Janet; three daughters; Ruth Marie Johnson (deceased), Angela Lundquist of Pocatello, Joanna Gail Mackay of Lake Tapps, Washington; four sons: Curry Denny Andrews of Star, Idaho, Jack Denny Andrews of Provo, Utah, Daniel Denny Andrews of Spanish Fork, Utah and Martin Denny Andrews of Port Angeles, Washington (now Star, Idaho); eighteen grandchildren, and one great-grandson. He and his smiley & sunny disposition will be greatly missed- Smiley and Mr. Clean are names he can be proud of. He has worn them well. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father and mother, his older brother, Jack, one sister, Mary Ellen Anderson, and one daughter; Ruth Marie Johnson. Funeral services will be held in the Cedar Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 550 W Cedar St, Pocatello, Idaho 83201 on Friday, February 6 th , 2015. A public viewing at 9:00 AM will precede formal services to begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will be held at Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road Bluffdale, Utah 84065 at 3:00 PM. Condolences can be made to the family online at
