William Gayle Egan

d. November 20, 2012

Our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, and friend left us on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, after suffering a heart attack at his home in Pahrump. William Gayle Egan was born on April 12, 1938, in Downey, Idaho to Elva Ruth Underwood Egan and Loren Gunter Egan. Gayle was the second of four children born to Ruth and Loren. Gayle grew up in Arimo, Idaho and graduated from Marsh Valley High School in 1956. The first graduating class in Marsh Valley. After high school Gayle joined the United States Army with a desire to serve the country that he loved so much. Gayle's service to his country was cut short when he broke his neck in a swimming accident. After Gayle broke his neck he returned to Arimo to work on the ranch with his Dad. Shortly after Gayle started his career as a long line truck driver, a career that spanned over 40 years. During his career as a truck driver Gayle earned numerous awards and recognitions. Most notably Gayle earned safety awards for driving his eighteen wheeler over 10,000,000 miles without an incident. Gayle proudly worked for Garrett Freight Lines, Consolidate Freight lines (CF) and ended his career working for Wolfenstein's in Pahrump, Nevada. On December 2, 1972, Gale married the love of his life, Barbara Jean Egan (Bobbie). Together they built a wonderful life spending every moment they could together. They enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing and spending time with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. There was rarely a moment that Gayle wasn't surrounded by those who loved him. Gayle was generous in spirit, had a quick wit, incredible sense of humor and a heart that had room for everyone he met. Gayle and Bobbie were blessed with10 children in a his, yours and ours situation that blended into a loving family that never used words like "step" "half" or " blood". In addition to raising his own children Gayle willingly and with incredible love accepted the responsibility of serving as not only grandfather, but also father to his granddaughter Chastity Jean Betty Bendele and his grandson Jared Preston Allum. Gayle was a deeply spiritual man who loved The Lord and worshiped him in his own way every day embodying the teachings of Jesus and demonstrating them in his interactions with others. We will miss you Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa. Pookie Bear I will be strong and keep you with me in my heart until we are together again. Gayle was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Ruth Egan, his older sister Rita Kay Egan Johnson, his younger sister Kathleen Egan Johnson and a daughter Gayle Ann Egan Murdoch.
