William Harmon

d. July 2, 2013

William Jordan Harmon died unexpectedly on July 2, 2013, near his home in Pocatello, Idaho. William was born to Alaina Lee Russell Harmon and William Lance Harmon on April 9, 1993, in Boise, Idaho. He was the youngest of four children, joining an older sister, Ariel, and two older half-brothers, Nathan and Travis. After Lance died in 1995, Will, Ariel, and Alaina dubbed themselves the Three Musketeers and Will took very seriously his role as man of the house. Around age 4, he tired of the responsibility and asked his mother when she was going to find him a dad. A couple of years later, Alaina married Brent Jean Eldredge; although Brent was technically a step-father, William always firmly stated that a man's dad was the one who raised him. And he loved Brent accordingly. The newly-formed family moved to American Falls where William attended kindergarten, and first and second grades at Hillcrest Elementary. When Brent got a job at Micron in Boise, William finished out elementary school at Trail Wind and then junior high at Les Bois. Later the family moved back to southeastern Idaho where Will graduated from Century High School in Pocatello in 2011. At each of these schools, Will made lifelong friends, definitely one of his many talents. William held several jobs from about age 16 until his death, but his deep love was archeology and history, especially that of the Celtic people. His long-term goal was to obtain a Ph.D. in history and then teach Celtic Studies at a university in Ireland or Scotland. William loved throwing the javelin and shooting the long bow, and he has passed on those skills to several of his younger siblings. Firm in his convictions, unafraid to defend that which he believed, and unselfish with his time, we, his family, have been the grateful beneficiaries of Will's kind heart and generous nature. Since his death, we've learned that he liberally shared these traits with his friends and associates. We are deeply grateful for the many anecdotes that friends have posted on Will's Facebook wall. It's clear that he was known for his good works and outgoing nature, as well as cargo shorts and bare feet regardless of the weather. Our hearts are broken that he'll not be here to share our earthly lives. Will is survived by his mother and step-father; his siblings, Ariel, Olivia, Victoria, Samuel, and Lacy of Pocatello, and Travis (Jessica) of Idaho Falls; his grandmothers, Vernene (Mayo) Haskett of American Falls, Rosina Eldredge of Buhl, and Juanita Harmon of Boise; his aunts, Robyn (Kirk) Adkins of American Falls, Apryl (Jason) Hunt of Modesto, CA, Alair (Russell) Palmer of Aberdeen, and Natasha Eldredge of Salt Lake City; uncles Kryst (Melissa) Krein of American Falls, Nathan (Hillary) Eldredge of Pocatello, and Troy (Holly) Eldredge of Virginia; 31 cousins; and 1 niece. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the LDS Chapel on the corner of Butte and Hiskey in Pocatello. A visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be held at Fielding Memorial Park in Idaho Falls.
