Alan David Thomas
ANAMULE
Alan David Thomas passed away on May 11, 2025, in Pocatello, ID at the age of 72. He was born on November 11, 1952, to Boyd David Thomas and Laurel Norine Hirschi in Malad, Onieda, ID. His family later moved to Pocatello. Because his birthday fell on Veterans Day, his mother told him that the entire country celebrated his birthday.
Alan attended school in Pocatello at Jefferson Elementary, Irving Jr. High, and Pocatello High School. He entered the U.S. Army and proudly served from 1969 to 1975 and served in Vietnam. He always said that he was born to be and was proud to be a Veteran. He received a GED from the U. S. Army and another one from Idaho State University.
Alan was a jack of all trades. He worked in construction for most of his life and had the scars and broken bones and stories to prove it. Growing up one of his favorite songs was In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly. His enjoyment came from fishing and hunting, reading, throwing horseshoes, his children and grandchildren and his dogs.
Alan married Je Deanne Thomas and together they adopted their son, David Alan Thomas. They later divorced. Alan met Cindy McMichael 42 years ago while working at the same place and they have been together for 33 years.
Surviving Alan is his life partner, Cindy (McMichael); sons, David Alan (Emily) Thomas, Stephen (Haley), and Brian (Nettie) McMichael; grandchildren, Jaiden, Makayla, Teralynn, Felix, Maggie Mae, Dax, Angelina (Nimo), Sophia, Arabella (Bella) and Ryan; and his first great grandchild, Asher Robert Thomas. His dogs, Sara and Lucy; his sisters, Lauralee (Bucky) Hess, Kim Thomas and Wendy Thomas; and nieces and nephews, too many to count, and his many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Boyd; his mother, Laurel; sisters, Karen, Paula, Kristyne; brother, Duane; and Cindy’s parents and siblings, Jim & Jean Thomas, Kathy Kenley, and Jeff Thomas.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Buddy Campbell Memorial Park, 482 W. Main Street, Lava Hot Springs, Idaho 83246, the large pavilion. This will be an all day event, from sun up to sun down. Please come anytime you wish. Military Honors will take place at 4:20 pm.
