Alfred W. Holt passed away on December 9, 2025, after a valiant battle with lung cancer. Among those waiting for him were his identical twin brother, Allen and his greatest companion and friend, his little dog, Max.
Alfred was born on August 2, 1951, along with his twin brother Allen B. Holt. They joined the family of Allen W. Holt and Reva Baker Holt. Alfred and Allen grew up with two older sisters, an older brother, and a younger sister. Alfred enjoyed growing up in a strong family unit. He and Allen were always together finding all kinds of trouble to get into.
After graduating from high school, Alfred joined the Navy. He traveled the world and always enjoyed learning about the people and cultures of everywhere he went. During his time in the Navy, his ship was sent to "dump everything on board and make room to take refugees from Cambodia.” He was also involved with the development of the Tomahawk Missile. Alfred actually pushed the button that launched the first successful firing of the Tomahawk.
Alfred had two marriages that ended in divorce. He has one daughter, Jennifer Valine. The last 8 years of Alfred's life he spent in Pocatello, Idaho. He especially enjoyed time with his older brother, Ed and his wife, Maureen, for the holidays and Sunday dinners. He recently enjoyed a visit from his 2 older sisters, Olive and LaRie.
Alfred and Allen were lifelong best friends and companions. Alfred said that half of him was gone when Allen passed away. His other greatest sorrow was when his little dog Max died.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, his younger sister, Ethel Holt and his twin brother, Allen B. Holt. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Valine; his older brother, Edward L. Holt (Maureen); and his two older sisters, Olive Layton and LaRie Cutler.
Alfred will be laid to rest in the Blackfoot Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 2651 Cromwell Ln. Blackfoot, ID 83221, on Monday, December 22, 2025 at 12:00 p.m.
