Alice Elaine Johnson, 88, peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones at her home on January 12, 2026, in Pocatello, Idaho.
She was born on December 17, 1937, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Alvin Christmas Wellard and Mary Alice Clark Wellard. She had four sisters Betty, Thora, Jackie, and Lila; and two brothers Clark and Jerry.
Elaine married Ronald Jay Scoffield in March 1956, they divorced in February of 1977. Elaine married Robert George Johnson in November of 1977. He later died in March of 1996.
Elaine worked as a nurse at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas for 5 years, then at the St. Anthony Hospital and eventually Pocatello Regional Hospital until she retired. Elaine worked in doctor’s offices “until she gave up on working” as she states.
She loved playing cards, especially pinochle, horseshoes, bowling, camping, fishing, hunting, and rock hounding.
Elaine was very active and involved in the community. She participated in the Gate City Ladies, Nursing Organizations at the City, State, and National levels; card clubs; putting on reunions for both families; and helping with blood pressure checks for boxing clubs.
Elaine is preceded in death by her sweetheart, Robert; parents, Alvin and Alice Wellard; son Kevin Shawn Scoffield; sisters Betty Hector, Thora Devenberg, Jacquelyn Gates, and Lila Woods.
She is survived by her children Ronald Jay Scoffield Jr, Jeffery Scott Scoffield, Brad A Scoffield, Kellie D Skenandore; brother Clark (Dee) Wellard, Jerry (Judy) Wellard; daughter-in-law Donna Boyko; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery (1520 S. 5th Ave, Pocatello, ID 83204). A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at Meridell Park, 5740 S 5th Avenue, Pocatello, ID.
