Allen Spencer Cavanaugh

July 10, 1940 — February 17, 2026

Pocatello

His wife at his side, Allen Spencer Cavanaugh passed away on February 17, 2026 at 85 years old.

Allen was born on July 10, 1940. He spent his childhood in Challis Idaho, and was the oldest of seven siblings. He exited the tough times of his family at just 13 years old, and acquired employment and housing on his own. From then on his identity became one of hard work and charisma.

His first date with his forever-bride was in May of 1962.  She was 17 and Allen was 21. She moved away for the summer, but their romance resumed her senior year of high school until his passing.

Allen was a diesel mechanic and small-time farmer. He never knew a stranger, and would help anyone anytime. He loved hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He was known to sing over his cook fire when camping and hunting. Allen enjoyed building, especially a good shed.  He was pivotal in caring for his granddaughters as babies, helping to keep them home instead of daycare.

He is survived by his wife (Charlene), his two daughters (Debbie and Rena) and sons-in-law (Matt and Scott), two grand-daughters (Roxanne and Gabrielle), and a niece (Elaina).

If no one told you that you were beautiful, Allen Cavanaugh would be the first. (IYKYK)
