Allen Rick Collins

Rick Collins, 70, of Dakota Dunes South Dakota took the stairway to heaven to join his three siblings in the morning hours of July 24, 2026.

Rick’s birth was on May 12, 1956 to Allen R Collins and Cyrena M. Howell in Pocatello Idaho. By age 13, Rick had earned his Eagle Scout; unprecedented for the time. He squeaked out a diploma in 1974 from Highland High School, despite his many social obligations; all while being a first time father to his daughter Heather.

Rick entered into the car business shortly after high school selling Volkswagens. Due to his social obligations and his employers early business hours, Rick was often late for work. This provided him multiple opportunities to work for several car dealers selling a variety of vehicles. One such social event, a blind date in 1978, led him to his best friend, love his life Pam Germain. Often referred to as “the Saint.” They would welcome three children, Jill, Ryan and Matt to complete their family.

In 1986 Rick proudly opened Rick’s Car Store. The aspects of owning a business showed him every possible high and low. The beginnings to mold him into the car expert he would become. In 1989 Rick became an authorized dealer for Chevrolet, in American Falls Idaho. Shortly thereafter, Rick’s Car Store grew into Rick’s Mitsubishi. Over the next 16 years he would continue to adapt, grow, and mold his dream into fruition. In 2007 Rick and Pam would acquire Rick Collins Toyota in Sioux City Iowa. From day one our family was welcomed to Siouxland with open arms. Rick would semi-retire from the car business in 2020; still asking his boys “how many we got out today?” With 50 years in the car business, endless friendships, confidants, mentors and mentees, Rick loved every moment.

Our family would like to thank each of you for being a part of his journey. Our gratitude is extended to ALL of his care providers, with recognition to the 6th and 8th floor and wound care staffing of Unity Point Downtown, (formerly Mercy Medical Center), Home Health, and Westwood Care Facility.

Rick is survived by his wife, Pam; children, Heather Liljenquist, Jill (Farley) Merica, Ryan (Stefanie) Collins, and Matt (Taylor) Collins; 11 grandchildren, Riley and Gracie Liljenquist, Grayson, Hanna, and Tanner Merica, Maggie, Marlee, Cooper, Dean Collins, and Maxwell and Myla Collins; one great grandchild, Nolan Aird; parents, Allen R. Collins and Cyrena Egbert; and siblings, Laura, Jo, and Wanda Egbert and Chuck and Laura Buerstatte.

A memorial visitation will be Thursday, July 30, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with family remarks beginning at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, 3220 Stone Park Blvd, Sioux City, IA 51104.  A graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 South 5th Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho. A luncheon will follow the burial, beginning at 2:00 P.M. at the LDS Church, located at 4010 Hawthorne Road.
