Barbara Marie Parsons

65 years ago Barbara Marie Parsons, affectionately known as “Walmart Barb after working as a cashier there for 24 years,” exploded into this world. She lived a life filled with love for everyone she met. She drew people to her like a magnet and kept them close to her throughout their life. She lived a humble lifestyle, and shared her time, talents and wisdom with everyone who needed her. She mothered every soul that fell within her orbit. She also raised each of her grandchildren throughout different periods of their lives.

Barbara passed on August 24, 2026, after a hard, valiant but swift battle with cancer, with her humor still intact and her heart still overflowing with love. Her family was her pride and joy and the very reason she fought so hard to live.

She leaves behind her daughter, Muria Steed; her son Mark Steed; her grandchildren Hennessey Steed, Jackson, Opie and Krista Steed, and Ashton Wolford; her sisters Sherry Parsons, Rose Annie Wellard, and Rose Syvella Adams. Plus the many, many, many children of the heart who still affectionately call her mom years later, and all of her loyal customers from Walmart. 

She was preceded in death by her son, Trent Steed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the ball park on Booth Drive in Pocatello on Saturday, September 5th, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. The ball park is located off of Pocatello Creek Road where it curves to the right between the point where Satterfield Drive splits off to the left and the Boy Scout office sits on the left side of Pocatello Creek Road.
