The world got a little quieter and a whole lot less goofy on September 14, 2026, when Billie Ann Burke packed up her craft supplies and made her grand exit. Born on July 19, 1954, in Dillon, Montana, Billie spent her 72 years mastering the arts of spreading mischief, making people laugh, and proving that rules are really more like polite suggestions.
Billie’s journey took her through school in Butte, a brief stint living in northern Idaho, and a return trip back to Butte. Eventually, she made her way to Pocatello, where she dropped anchor and entertained the locals for the last 35+ years. Billie was widowed ten years ago after the passing of her husband, Alvin Burke, but she was never short on laughter, love, or company—especially with her longtime friend and life partner-in-crime, Charles "Skeeter" Compton, by her side.
If there was a board game to be played or cards to be dealt, Billie was in her element. She was a grandmaster at Gin, Rummy, and Pinochle, likely winning through a mix of sharp strategy and hilarious distraction tactics. When she wasn't destroying the competition at the card table, she was a dedicated crafter who spent hundreds of hours creating handmade treasures for loved ones or to sell at the weekend craft markets in Station Square—which was secretly just her favorite excuse to socialize, gossip, and show off her latest creations.
She leaves behind a wonderfully chaotic legacy, including her sister Lois Hunt, her brother Ernie Hunt her long-time friend Charles "Skeeter" Compton; her daughters Chastie Willes, Kathrine "Katie" McNabb, and Kristie Peck; her grandchildren Dante Willes, Gabriel Willes, Albert Lewis, Angel (Tristan) Bassett, John Lewis, Jiovanni Vitale, and Vincent Vitale; as well as 3 great-grandchildren. Waiting to greet her on the other side are her husband, Alvin Burke; her mom, Margaret Moughton; her dads, Ernie Hunt and John "Jack" Moughton; and her sister, Fran.
The family extends a huge, heartfelt thank you to her abundant trail of doctors and nurses over her last few weeks, as well as everyone who supported her over these past few years. A special thank you goes out from "us girls" for the help steering the ship through this process physically, mentally, and financially. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to her favorite Portneuf Towers Senior Center, her services or at least going out, playing a game of cards, and cheating just a little bit in her honor.
