Brad Johnson

January 26, 1953 — October 2, 2024

Pocatello

Brad H Johnson peacefully passed away Oct 2, 2024 at the hospital following a heart attack, with his children by his side. Brad was born on Jan 26, 1953 to Yvonne H Farmer Johnson and Vernon P Johnson. He was their 2nd of 5 children and he was born on his beloved Grandma Hortense Johnson’s birthday.

He was raised and attended school in Arco, ID. Graduated from Butte County High School in 1971. In high school Brad played drums with the band. Music has always been an important part of his life. He was always drumming on something or tapping his foot and listening to his music.

He attended Ricks College in Rexburg (now BYU-I) for 1 year. He visited with the dean a couple of times due to his hair length…probably why he didn’t go back. Instead he went to Idaho Barber College in Boise and graduated as a Barber/hairstylist. His first barber job was at the Bolero Barbershop in Idaho Falls. He then got a job with Continental Hairstylists in Pocatello, ID. He managed the barbershop in the Student Union Bldg at ISU for about 10 yrs. Later worked at AMI semiconductors and then acquired a job at the INL at ATR. He retired from the INL in Sept 2017. Brad took retirement a little too seriously and retired from everything… His favorite place became his recliner and TV. He loved watching the news, weather and sports & game shows. He also enjoyed going downtown to listen to music and dance with his friends, and frequent the food trucks.

He was living with his sister Connie in Pocatello and working at ISU. He met his wife to be, Kathy Kunz in Arco, they were married on Dec 3, 1977. Together they had 3 wonderful children and later adopted a child. Their differences increased and they divorced, Mar 2023.

Brad enjoyed skiing, music and his drums, camping & fishing. When he was younger he loved riding his skateboard & motorcycles. He learned about traveling and going to the beach which became a favorite of his and the family. He attended a lot of Atlanta Braves Games and was a big fan of the braves. His biggest love was the Green Bay Packers, he was a diehard fan. He wasn’t shy about yelling at the TV when something didn’t go right.

He is survived by his sons, Doug Johnson, grandchildren Hailey & Derek, Matt & (Stephanie) Johnson grandpup Huckleberry, daughter Kyrsten & (Dustin) Perschon, grandchildren Jataya, Janessa, Kysen, Granddaughter Makenna Woodward, bonus daughter Brittany Pongah. Sister, Connie & (Lou) Aguilar, brothers, Dan & (Diane) Johnson, LaRon & (Raylene) Johnson, Todd & (Jeannine) Johnson.

There will be a casual gathering for friends and family, Friday, Oct 11 from 6-8 pm at the LDS church at 1433 Gwen Dr. Pocatello, ID. Graveside services will take place in Arco, Idaho at the Hillcrest Cemetery on Saturday, Oct 12 at 11am.
