Burke J Butler, 84 years old, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025. He was born on February 6, 1941, in American Falls, Idaho, to Morgan Dale Butler and Dorothy Warner Butler.
Growing up in Pocatello, Burke was known for his strong opinion on life, his great sense of humor, and his infectious laugh. He graduated from Pocatello High School. Burke later went on to work for the Okay’s Food Store, Partner Steel, the Mine in Soda Springs, Idaho, then went to the Union Pacific Railroad and worked his way up to an Engineer and worked past the age to retire.
Burke dedicated his later career to the Railroad. Those who worked with Burke will remember his notable quality, his problem-solving skills, and dedication to his work. Outside of work, he loved being outdoors whether it was fishing, riding four-wheelers, or building and fixing things. Burke loved spending time with family and loved his dogs. He loved his dog like his babies, not just a pet.
Burke’s greatest pride and joy was his family. Burke is survived by his beloved spouse, Laurie Butler; children Julie (Brian) Orgil, Jeff (Dawn Williams) Butler, Tim Butler, Jenniver Denison, Sam (Ashlee) Butler; step children Wendy Martin Serrano, Brian Martin, and Weseley (Kellee) Mower; siblings Peggy (Lynn) Transtrum, John (Liz) Butler, Cherie (Kelly) Christensen, and Mike Butler; and many adoring grandchildren, cousins, and friends.
Burke is preceded in death by his parents, Morgan and Dorothy Butler and brother, Brett Butler.
Burke will be remembered for his lasting impact, such as his kind heart, generosity, and unwavering support. He always had a great way of making people feel at ease and telling great stories.
We will miss him dearly and his spirit will live on in the memories we cherish.
