Carl Robert Mauger, 77, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, after suffering a stroke a week earlier. He was born on March 23, 1948, in Long Beach, California, to Girard Mauger and Catherine “Lynn” Clarke.
Carl graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach and went on to attend Long Beach Community College. Over the course of his life, he took on many roles, working in construction, spinning records as a DJ at a small California radio station, doing handyman work, and even serving as a private detective. Of all his jobs, he was most proud of his time as a motorcycle officer with the Long Beach Police Department.
On October 18, 1981, Carl married Rebecca Rich. Together, they shared countless adventures and years of love until her passing in 2016. Even after her death, Carl continued to enjoy traveling and took many cruises with his siblings, cherishing that time spent together. In his later years, Carl combined his mechanical skills and creative spirit to launch Retromotorbikes, a small business where he built custom motorized bikes.
Carl was known for his quick wit and never missed an opportunity to turn any moment, no matter how serious, into a lighthearted joke. He loved his family deeply and was overjoyed to meet his first great-grandson just two days before his stroke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Barbara Baker, his beloved wife Rebecca, and his daughter Jennifer Mauger. He is survived by his daughter Michelle (Jason) Hedstrom, five grandchildren, one great-grandson, and his siblings: brothers Ralph Mauger and John Mauger, and sisters Mary Downen and Blanche Thome.
A simple family graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on May 21 at Norton Cemetery in McCammon, Idaho, where Carl will be laid to rest beside his wife and daughter.
