Christena May Campbell, 81, passed away on February 13, 2026.
Christena was born on January 30, 1945, in Driggs, Idaho to Richard Lionel Jackson and Verna Bowles Jackson. She passed away peacefully at her home in Pocatello on February 13, 2026.
On January 30, 1976, she married the love of her life, Lowell Anton Campbell, in Denver, Colorado where they first met and fell in love at a USO square dancing event. Both Christena and Lowell proudly served their country—Lowell in the United States Army and Christena retired from the Navy Corps Wave. Her military service was a source of deep pride and remained an integral part of her identity throughout her life.
Lowell preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Richard William (Billy) Jackson, Vernon Arthur Jackson, Gene Otis Jackson, and Roy Allen Jackson.
Christena is survived by her daughters, Dixie Marie Stone (Victor Andrew Stone) and Janice Lorraine Romero (Tony Jay Romero). She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Shauntara Elaine Phillips, Michael Lowell Campbell, Connor Andrew Stone, Illyana Chrystine Stone, Jayden Jackson Romero, Jett Riley Romero, and Ryan Belle Romero. She is also survived by her sister, Devon Marie Wheatley; her brother, Fay Elmer Jackson (Carlene Jackson); and many extended family members and dear friends.
Christena was a loving, kind, and wonderfully childlike mother, a devoted wife, and a woman strong in her faith. She was also incredibly stubborn, sometimes to a fault. She was always willing to help anyone in need and found great joy in serving others. She faithfully served alongside her husband in the Idaho Falls Temple.
She loved escaping into the pages of a good book—so much so that when she was immersed in reading, it sometimes took a moment to catch her attention. She passed her love of books on to both of her daughters. She also loved sewing and had an impressive collection of fabric—enough, perhaps, to open her own small fabric store. Many creative projects were lovingly planned and begun.
While she loved her siblings and children dearly, her heart completely belonged to her grandchildren. In the final chapter of her life, her greatest joy was found in their laughter, their hugs, and the simple blessing of being near them. Nothing made her happier than loving on them, spoiling them just a little, and watching them grow. She would have given anything for one more moment by their side, as they were the true light of her life—and in return, they loved her just as dearly.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers from Happy to Help—especially Mindy, Jen, and Abby—who became like family and provided such compassionate care.
A viewing will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3444 Hawthorne Road, Pocatello, Idaho. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., with a luncheon afterward.
