Clark D. Higley, 98, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

Clark D Higley, Born April 22, 1928 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Willis Dewey Higley and Caroline Ann Hansen. Clark joined the family as the second to youngest of eight children. They lived on the farm his father had taken out of brush in Firth Idaho. Clark rode his horse to elementary school and saw many changes by the time he graduated from Firth High School, but only a few of the many more during his 98 years here on the earth.

Clark met his future wife Colleen Jackson at a community dance, and they married a few years later. Clark joined the Army shortly after marriage and was stationed in Fair Banks Alaska for two years, in the early 1950’s during the Korean conflict. Colleen and baby Blaine joined him in Alaska and during this time Clark attended the LDS church with Colleen and joined the church. Clark always had special memories of Alaska and the friends he made in the small branch of the church. Clark remained active in the church all his life and enjoyed the many friends he made over the years. He was always willing to do whatever he was asked to do, and his testimony never wavered throughout his life.

After the service Clark and Colleen moved to the family farm in firth. A few years later they rented ground in Osgood, Idaho, raising sugar beets, milking cows and working for the potato processers in the winter months to make ends meet.

In 1958 Clarks name was drawn in the Homestead Act that was made available to Veterans, to choose land on the Northside project, North of Rupert. Many farmers gave up and sold the land as soon as they could, but Clark took to the task and made a profitable operation. Clark and Colleen raised potatoes, hay, grain, and beef cattle. They also bought neighboring farms and by the 1970’s had expanded the operation 4 times.

Clark and Colleen bought the Lantern Boutique gift shop in Rupert Idaho in 1968 and Jolley’s house of Gifts in Burley Idaho in 1970. They moved off the farm and bought a home in Heyburn, but Clark still worked everyday out on the farm in the summer and in the stores in the winter.

In 1975, Clark and Colleen purchased a ranch in Salmon, Idaho, his lifelong dream of owning a cattle ranch. Selling out everything in the Mini Cassia area they moved to Salmon to live out the dream. Life had other plans for Clark and Colleen and a short 5 years later they were forced to leave Salmon and moved to Kimberly, Idaho and opened a grocery store.

Clark and Colleen lived in Kimberly until Colleen’s untimely death in 1989. Shortly after Clark met Nola Webb, and after a short courtship were married. Clark and Nola lived in Kimberly for a few years and then built a home close to the south hills so they could ride horses easily. Clark and Nola were married for 31 years when Nola suffered a stroke and passed away in 2020.

Clark’s hobbies were horses, chickens, trains and telling stories.

Clark and Colleen have 5 children, Blaine Clark Higley, (Yvonne Higley) Chad Darren Higley, (Mary Lou Higley) Sherie Colleen Thain, (John Thain), Lanette Higley, Linda Higley.

Clark and Colleen have 17 Grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren with more on the way.

Clark is preceded in death by Colleen, Nola, Blaine and Yvonne, Clarks parents, brothers and sisters and countless friends.

Clark loved life and being busy, he was able to live in his own home by himself and still mowed his lawn, did his own laundry, cooked breakfast every morning, fed the chickens, horse, cat and dog. He could be seen driving his horse and buggy around the neighborhood and giving anyone who dared a ride. His mind was clear to the end, and he was determined to do everything he could to take care of himself. He was a stubborn old cowboy but as my sister Linda said he was our stubborn old cowboy and we miss him dearly as he has ridden on out to the sunset.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Sunset Memorial Park, 2296 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, ID, 83301.
