On September 1, 2015 Daniel passed away in his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 90, of a short battle with cancer.
Daniel had worked in Fort Hall, Idaho from 1971 to 1974. He was employed by the Department of the Interior, with a specific assignment to the B.I.A. (Bureau of Indian Affairs). He was with them for over 30 years. After leaving Fort Hall, he was transferred to Window Rock, Arizona; and retired after being assigned to Washington D.C.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Magdalena Renteria of Albuquerque, NM; daughters and sons, Cathy (William) Wigington, Chubbuck, ID; Linda (Mike) Mahaney, Ellensburg, WA; Ken (Camille) Renteria, Richland, WA; Terri (Steve) Schlensker, Cheyenne, WY; Roger Renteria, Albuquerque, NM; a brother, Ray (Virgie) Renteria, Montebello, CA; a sister-in-law, Bea Renteria, Cheyenne, WY; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, and a grandson, Danuel Wigington.
Funeral services for Daniel will be held at a later date in New Mexico. His local arrangements are under the care and direction of Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, ID.
