David Paul Briggs, 46 years, lost his fight with cancer January 28, 2024, approximately four years after the initial diagnosis. During a two-week vigil he was surrounded by his parents, son, family, friends, and colleagues.
David was born February 10, 1977, the devoted son of Eric L. and Diane M. Briggs (nee Pein - now Munden) in Pocatello, Idaho. He graduated Pocatello High School in 1995 and the College of Southern Idaho in 1997 with an Associate of Arts degree in Applied Science in Automotive Technology, combined with an Automotive Service of Excellence (ASE) certification. Earlier than most, David achieved the height of his profession, designation as Service and Parts Manager; and he continued his professional growth through continuous education and training while winning numerous awards for excellence along the way.
Until no longer able to work, David was the long-time Fixed Operations Director at what is now Cole Nissan Kia. He started his career as a Technician at Rick’s Chevrolet Oldsmobile, GMC in American Falls, ID., then a Service Writer at Hirning Buick GMC Pocatello, then Director of Service at Lithia Chrysler Jeep, Pocatello.
David was an avid car and boat mechanic, a car and speed-boat race driver, as well as an expert alpine skier. He was a fitness buff and worked out regularly.
He is preceded in death by grandparents Fergus and Shirley Briggs, and Ed and Pauline Pein, all Pocatellans. He is survived by his loving parents, half-brother Robert Munden, former wife Trina Hall, long-time former partner Erin Daniels and their son Eric Christopher. He has been a father figure to Brynnlee and Tatum Daniels, and is also survived by innumerable loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Memorial - Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday February 10, 2024 from 11:00 to 1:30 at The Purpose Center located at 224 N. Main Street in Pocatello, Idaho. Parking is available on N. Union Pacific Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho.
