Deborah “Debbie” Diane Coburn Cates, 71, passed away on September 20, 2024.

Debbie was born on November 18, 1952, in Jerome, Idaho. She was raised in and around Mackay, Idaho until graduating from Mackay High School. She soon after married Randal Lee Cates on June 12, 1971. Debbie was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, enjoying participating in activities involving the community.

She loved her family, her cows, and serving others. Debbie was a long-term volunteer for the voting polls and helping with Young Women Activity Days, a nod to her love of people. To know her was to love her. She also loved to bake and cook.

Debbie is survived by her husband of 53 years, Randy Cates of Pocatello, ID; son, Scott (Kelly) Cates of Pocatello, ID; children, Sam (Tessa) Cates, Heather (Kurtis) Kinney, Noah (Kelsey) Bennett, Justin Cates, son Brian (Rebecca) Cates of Orange, TX and children, Alexis Johnson, Maximus Cates, Olivia Cates; daughter Chelsy Cates of Pocatello, ID and children, Kylie Cordova and Kamree Cates; and 5 great grandchildren.

Debbie is preceded in death by her father, Dean Verl Coburn; mother, Laverne Shaw Coburn and brother, David Coburn.

A viewing will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 pm on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, ID.
