Derinda Gail (Stone) Whitworth, 74, passed away on November 27, 2024.

Derinda was born to Clay E. Stone and Ruby M. Cook on September 30, 1950, and left this life on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. She was married to Laddie Whitworth (February 1968) for 52 years, until his death in July 2020. Derinda was devoted to her family, including her two children, Brandelle and Shad, her granddaughter, Willow, and her four great-grandchildren.

Derinda was born and raised in Pocatello, raised by her grandparents S. Melvin and Cassie Cook, graduated from Highland High School in 1968, and attended classes at Idaho State University. Her passions included her beloved dogs; travel, especially to Disneyland, Walt Disney World, the mountains or oceans, and cruising; genealogy; and politics, in which she was active throughout her life.

Derinda was preceded in death by her grandparents, including S. Melvin and Cassie; her brother and sister, Faren and Karen; her father, Clay; her mother, Ruby; her step-sister, Joanne; and her husband Laddie; as well as her many four-legged children.

She is survived by her children, Brandelle and Shad; her granddaughter, Willow; four (soon to be five) great-grandchildren; her mother-in-law, Ramona; sister-in-law, Liz; brother-in-law, Thom; and her beloved canine companions Copper and Desi. 

Per her wishes, she was cremated. A wake in her honor will be hosted by her children at a later date and invitees will be notified. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary (bestfriends.org/sanctuary) or your local no-kill animal shelter in her honor.
