Dewey Roy Simpson of Pocatello, ID was born July 10th, 1945 to Fred Simpson and Lula Belle Messick Simpson in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was the eldest of 4 children. He attended schools in Ririe, graduating from Ririe High School in 1964. He had a BA in Architectural Drawing.
Dewey served his country in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. In 1968 he married Pam Landon and they had two daughters, Tonya and Lesa. They later divorced. He worked for H-K Contractors for 28 years and was a partner in Amerigo Traffic Control for 30 years. He's hobbies were fishing, golf, camping, fishing, restoring cars, fishing, wood working, fishing, helping people, and fishing.
Dewey passed away January 27, 2016. He is survived by his daughters Tonya Pettingill and Lesa Fisher, both of Idaho Falls, brother Ralph "Rowdy" (Colleen) Simpson of Ririe, sisters Sheila (Tom) Hogan of Ririe, and Julia (Jim) Champion of Van Horn, TX, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, and best friend and partner Cheri Hall of Pocatello. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter.
There will be a service of remembrance for Dewey at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road. The burial will follow at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery with Military Rites performed by Snake River VFW Post 1004. A wake will be held in his honor at 4:00 p.m., at Amerigo, 735 So. 1st Avenue, Pocatello.
