September 23, 1948 — May 4, 2025

Pocatello

Donald Wayne Latimer, 76, peacefully passed away at his home in Pocatello, Idaho surrounded by family on May 4th, 2025.

Don was born to James Monroe and Nell Butler Latimer on September 23,1948 in Phoenix, Arizona. The family moved to settle in Pocatello shortly after when Don was 3 months old. Don attended Pocatello high school, graduating in 1966. After graduation, he went on to attend ISU graduating from the Auto Mechanics program in 1966. Don made his life in Pocatello and was loved in the community.

Don was introduced to the love of his life, Marrion Dianna Rigoulot in 1968 by friends, Howard and Irma Dean Cornwall. When Dianna tells the story, she always says: “how she thought it was so crazy that two guys would come from Pocatello to Idaho Falls every weekend just to take us girls out”. Don and Dianna were married on August 1st, 1969, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The newlyweds lived in Pocatello while Don worked at Skyline VW until 1976. Don and Jim Auger left the dealership and ventured out on their own to start Gate City Repair, specializing in Volkswagen repair. Over the years they branched out to all foreign cars and became a staple of South-Eastern Idaho for the next 49 years. To this day we still hear how they are missed in the community.

Cars were always a passion for Don which he has passed down to his children and grandchildren. From car shows to cruises, he did it all. He had a particular love for the Corvettes and old street rods and he owned many over his lifetime. Don was able fulfill his bucket list trip to the Corvette Museum in Kentucky with family and friends before his passing. Don’s other pastimes included photography, visiting Yellowstone Park with family, riding motorcycles and boating.

Don is survived by his wife, Marrion Dianna Latimer, children: Donald Jason Latimer Sr., Brandon Wayne Latimer, and Heather Dianna Latimer/ Dunn(Jared). Grandchildren: Donald Jason Latimer Jr(Billie), Kendall Monroe Latimer(Teyah), and Jeremy Wolfgang Latimer. Great Grandchildren: Camden James Kopp, Trevin James Cole, Oliver Rhys Latimer, Monroe Roman Latimer, and Atlas Grey Latimer.

Don is preceded by his parents, James Monroe & Nell Butler Latimer, siblings: James Monroe Latimer II, and Carol Ann Wickstrom/Latimer
