Eric Gus Rathjen

March 28, 1967 — May 9, 2022

Eric G. Rathjen, 55, longtime Pocatello resident, passed away on May 8, 2022, after having fought a long battle with an illness.  He was born on March 28, 1967, to Ileen Neeley.

Eric’s grandparents were long time business owners of Neeley’s Lounge in Pocatello.  He spent a lot of time with them working the business.

He was a hard worker and had many skills.  He started as a waiter at the Quality Inn when he was 16.  He was later a Foreman on the building of the Pocatello Regional Medical Center.

Eric had a kind heart and was such a joy to be around.  He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed being around children and animals.  Eric thoroughly loved his rock-n-roll music as well!

Eric had respect for people and was a true friend.

Eric had a long-time companion, Monica Charles, whom he met at her house in Idaho Falls on July 3, 2007.  Eric knew right away that he had found his best friend and love of his life.  He was heard by many as having said how much he loved and adored Monica.  They resided in Pocatello from that time forward.

Eric is preceded in death by his grandparents Gus and Elaine Neeley, his father Martin Rathjen, mother, Ileen Neeley, and brother Kurtis Rathjen.

He is survived by his long-time companion Monica Charles, Monica’s two sons Sky and Connor, and 2 grandsons. Eric will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

Services are being planned and will be announced at a later date.

Memories and condolences may be shared with the family under the “Tribute Wall” tab above.
