Evelyn "Evie" Linda Dingman, 76, passed away on April 8, 2026.
Evie was born on May 16, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois to Bob and Harriet Chorley. She was the third of four children. Evie loved to ride her bike all over Chicago when she was a kid and spent every summer at Rainbow Beach on Lake Michigan. She graduated from Chicago Vocational High School. After high school, she became a phlebotomist at South Chicago Hospital.
Evie married the love of her life, John Dingman, on October 25, 1969. They were married for 51 years before John passed away on June 10, 2021. They had two daughters, Rebecca and Rachel, before they moved to Idaho in 1978.
Both John and Evie loved camping. While John fished, Evie would sit on the riverbank and cross stitch. Evie was extremely talented with anything that involved a needle or hook. She could knit, crochet, needlepoint, cross stitch and sew. She won several awards for her knitting at the Eastern Idaho State Fair. Evie also loved spending time with her family. She was always baking cakes for birthdays and holidays. Her great grandchildren affectionately named her Grandma Cake.
Evie worked for School District #25 as a teaching assistant for many years before she retired to take care of her grandchildren. Later in life, she worked as a foster grandma in Head Start and in both of her daughters’ classrooms.
We would like to thank Heritage Hospice and Cornerstone Caregivers for the wonderful support and care they gave our mother as well as the rest of the family during the week she was home.
Evie is survived by her daughters, Rebecca (Ward) Anderson of Pocatello, ID and Rachel Dingman of Pocatello, ID; grandchildren, Dillon (Maquella) Katz of Pocatello, ID; Lyric Katzenstein of Spokane, WA; Ethan Dingman of Idaho Falls, ID; Ward Neal (Carly) Anderson of Pocatello, ID; Paul Anderson of Pocatello, ID; and Hope (Matthew) Bartholomew of Pocatello, ID.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Harriet Chorley; sister, Flossie Mrozek; and husband, John Dingman.
