Faye Lucille Petty Cotant

Faye Lucille Petty Cotant, 85, of Chubbuck, Idaho, passed away peacefully at her home on July 29th 2026, surrounded by her loving family, from advanced stages of Alzheimer's.

She was born on April 21st, 1941 in Pocatello, Idaho, to the parents of Lewis LeRoy Petty and Hilda Coffin Petty. Faye grew up with six other siblings, Arlene (Gary Yearsley), Clyde (Diane), Linda (Dwight Crandall), Dale (Vickie), Dennis, and LaRae (Olsen). She received her education in Pocatello, Idaho. During her High School years she enjoyed being involved in the Pocatello pep club. Throughout her childhood she was taught by her mother how to be a hard worker, a gardener, self-sufficient, and a nurturer to the family.

After a long courtship with her high school sweet heart, Faye married Don L. Cotant in 1958, in Pocatello, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls temple, where they were sealed for time and all eternity. Together they built a loving home and were blessed with five children; Kathy Lynn (Kevin Coffin), Donnie L. Jr. (Sherry Palmer), Robert, Camille (Rob Durrant), and Curtis. Faye has been blessed with 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Faye devoted her life to her family. She was an exceptional homemaker who created a home filled with love, laughter, and hard work. As her children grew older, she shared her talents by providing housekeeping services to many clients who became treasured friends.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Faye served in numerous callings throughout her life, including Primary President, Ward and Stake Relief Society President, President of the Handicapped Primary, a visiting teacher, and in Public Affairs. She sought to follow the example of Jesus Christ in all she did and loved sharing her testimony through both her words and her service.

Family was the center of Faye's life. She loved camping, celebrating holidays, gardening, canning the harvest, and creating lasting memories with her children and grandchildren. Her garden and flower beds reflected her dedication and care, and she took great pride in keeping them beautifully maintained. In later years, she especially enjoyed traveling with Don in the truck. She faithfully supported him throughout many years of coaching and school activities, cheering him on just as she cheered for her family. Faye's joyful spirit was contagious. She loved to laugh, dance, sing, and bring happiness wherever she went.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the hospice team at Enhabit Home Health and Hospice for the compassionate care they provided during Faye's final weeks. They are especially grateful to Heather, Tia, and Cash, whose kindness, skill, and Christlike service brought great comfort to Faye and her family.

Faye was preceded in death by; her parents, Lewis LeRoy and Hilda Coffin; siblings, Arlene, Clyde, Dale, and Dennis; her three sons, Donnie Jr., Robert, Curtis and a great grandson David Blaine Coffin.

She is survived by her beloved husband Don L. Cotant; her children Kathy and Camille; sisters Linda Crandall and LaRae Olsen; and 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

A viewing service will be held Friday August 7th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 West Chubbuck Rd, Chubbuck, ID 83202.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 8th, 2026 at 11 a.m. with a viewing from 10:00 -10:45 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 450 James Ave. Chubbuck, ID 83202 (Chubbuck Stake Center) Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Valley View Cemetery in Rockland, Idaho.

Travel Notice: Due to a community parade on the morning of Saturday, August 8th , some roads (Hawthorne and Chubbuck) leading to the church will be temporarily closed. Guests are encouraged to allow extra travel time and use an alternate route (Yellowstone to Stuart Ave.) when traveling to the church. Thank you for planning ahead and traveling safely.
