Floyd H. Betty, 85, passed away peacefully on September 13th 2025 at his home in Pocatello, Idaho, surrounded by all his cherished loved ones.
Born on October 10, 1939, in Shoshone, Idaho, Floyd spent his life deeply rooted in the landscapes and communities of his home state. His early years were shaped by a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the outdoors—values that would remain central throughout his life.
Floyd proudly served in the Army Reserves from 1958 to 1968. During that same period, he worked as an Outside Rector Machinist with Westinghouse. In 1967, he began what would become a long and dedicated career at FMC Corporation in Pocatello. As lead diesel mechanic, Floyd brought skill and commitment to his work until his retirement in 2001. His professional life was marked by reliability and craftsmanship that earned him the respect of colleagues and peers alike.
Beyond his career, Floyd found joy and fulfillment in the great outdoors. He cherished every moment spent mining with his brothers, hunting with his sons, camping under Idaho’s vast skies, and riding ATVs alongside family and especially his friends from the PTMA. Whether watching the sun dip behind the mountains or gathering around a campfire with loved ones, Floyd embraced nature’s beauty with reverence and gratitude.
He was widely known for his storytelling—vivid tales told around a fire or during quiet moments that brought laughter, reflection, and connection to those lucky enough to listen. His conversations were rich with warmth and wisdom, leaving lasting impressions on all who knew him.
Floyds legacy lives on through those who shared these treasured experiences with him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire stories told beneath starlit skies.
