Frances K. Thompson

August 7, 1932 — May 30, 2026

Pocatello

Frances (Frankie) McCormack Thompson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on May 30, 2026, at the age of 93.

Frankie was born on August 7, 1932, in Pocatello, Idaho, to William P. and Effie Mae McCormack, the first of three children. From an early age, she brought joy, laughter, and a spark of adventure to everyone around her.

In 1951, Frankie married Tom Thompson. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple, and together they were blessed with two children, Pamela (Forest) Holmes and Tom Galen Thompson.

Frankie lived life with zest and humor. She was known for her unfiltered and often hilariously inappropriate comments, which left family and friends laughing until they cried. She loved people and had the gift of making others feel welcome and cared for.

In her younger years, she worked for the telephone company. Later, after raising her children, she followed her heart’s desire to work in healthcare and spent time at St. Anthony Hospital in Pocatello, Idaho. She eventually served in food service for the Pocatello School District, where she formed many cherished, lasting friendships.

Frankie was also an avid bowler, rarely missing a chance to play. She bowled two to three times a week, winning numerous awards and traveling across the United States with her teammates to tournaments. The friendships and laughter she found at the bowling alley were a special joy in her life.

Frankie and Tom shared a love for adventure and travel. They enjoyed taking their motor home on countless trips, whether camping with family and friends, or traveling to rodeos and races where Tom worked as an announcer. These journeys created treasured memories filled with laughter, companionship, and the simple joy of being together.

In later years, Frankie loved attending New Knowledge Adventure classes with her best friend, Jean Foster. The two of them were unstoppable, often signing up for more than 30 classes a semester and eagerly sharing what they learned with family. They were also proud members of the Red Hat Ladies, where they joyfully wore their red hats and embraced life’s adventures together. What one didn’t think of, the other surely did.

Above all, Frankie dearly loved her family. She especially cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and would do anything for them. Her love for them was evident in the way she supported, encouraged, and celebrated each one of them.

Frankie is survived by her children, Pamela (Forest) Holmes and Tom Galen Thompson; three grandsons, Michael Hunter, Tom Travis Thompson, and Thomas Shaun (Tasha) Thompson; one granddaughter, Michelle Flores; great-grandchildren Chelsea Marie, Julianna Isabella, Jasmine Rose Flores, Alicia Hunter, Kira Thompson, Penny Thompson, and Tom Mason Thompson; her brother, Bruce (Vicky) McCormack; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Effie Mae, her husband, Tom, and her sister, Doris Poulsen.

A Celebration of life will be held for friends and family at 12:00 pm at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, ID.

Frankie will be remembered for her humor, her adventurous spirit, her devotion to family, and the way she lived life fully. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

The family would like to express gratitude and appreciation to Enhabit Hospice (Remmy, Miranda, Robyn, and Dr. Nielsen) and Gables Home Care, especially Brenda, our mother's daily caregiver, who brought tender loving care and comfort.
