Gabriel Timothy Winters

April 20, 1976 — March 17, 2026

Pocatello

Gabriel Timothy Winters, 49, died at his home in Pocatello, ID on March 17, 2026. After 3 years of trying to kick cancer’s ass, cancer won and the world lost a truly great human.

Gabe was born on April 20, 1976 in Nampa, ID to Timothy Winters and Linda Dewitt. Gabe was a lifelong Idaho resident and loyal Idaho Vandals fan. He enjoyed a career as a draftsman for MDU Resources.

In 2006 Gabe met his wife, Chelse. They married in 2011 on the Oregon coast. Gabe described Chelse as his “favorite person and best friend.” Together they enjoyed traveling and camping, and would often visit the Grand Tetons and various beer festivals.

Gabe is survived by his wife, Chelse Winters, his mother, Linda Dewitt, his sister Shelley Winters, his brother Stacey Winters, and many extended family members.

Gabe was known for his hearty laugh, big smile, and love of gadgets, golf, and cars. He was an avid watch collector, so he was definitely your guy if you needed to know the time. No one who met Gabe forgot his sense of humor and kind, gentle spirit. Gabe was known to treat everyone he met “like gold” and he loved his family and friends deeply. Gabe could often be found serenading the household about “white people taco night” and loved making everyone laugh. He always appreciated a deal and couldn’t pass up a thrift store or yard sale. Sadly, Gabe died before he could taste every bourbon on earth, but he sure gave it a go.

Gabe hated being the center of attention, and as a result a public celebration of life is not being planned. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to an animal shelter in Gabe’s honor. The family also suggests toasting your next drink of whiskey to Gabe, who we all hope is enjoying top shelf liquor in the afterlife. Cheers, Gabe.
