Gerald Darwin Steadman passed away on January 12, 2024, at Lincoln Court in Idaho Falls, Idaho at the age of 83. He was born to Darwin Steadman and Emma Zbinden Steadman in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 11, 1940. He was the middle of three children.
Gerald spent his childhood moving around fairly frequently. He lived in Utah, New Mexico, Texas, California, and Nevada. Those experiences gave him a love for travel that continued throughout his life. Aside from traveling, he also loved his family, old cars, motorcycles, tracking the weather, and all things Switzerland, where he served as a young missionary.
While living in Las Vegas, he met the love of his life, Judith Mooney, and on June 11, 1964, they were married in the Logan temple. They started their family in Las Vegas with the birth of Jamiece and then moved to Salt Lake City where Justin and Jeff were born. His job at YESCO took him to Pocatello, Idaho where Jared was born. He and Judy spent the next 47 years living in Pocatello.
Gerald was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints and spent his life trying to instill those same values in his children. He served as a dedicated and beloved young men’s leader for many years and later served as the bishop of the 46th ward in Pocatello.
Later in life, he and Judy served as missionaries in Nurnberg, Germany and he got to communicate in his beloved German language once again. After arriving home from their mission, they served for years as temple workers in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Judith Steadman, his children, Jamiece (Marc) Murphy of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Justin (Kayce) Steadman of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Jeffrey (Nikole) Steadman of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Jared (Erin) Steadman of Pocatello, Idaho, 16 grandchildren living in 9 different states, 9 great grandchildren, and his brother, Dale Steadman of Taylorsville, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darwin and Emma, and his sister, Annette.
