Guy Alma Bliesner, 87, passed peacefully through the veil between mortality and eternity in Pocatello, Idaho, on October 30, 2026. Through his mortal journey of nearly 88 years, he touched countless lives with his enormously compassionate heart, his wisdom, and always his persistent and abiding sense of humor.
For all of his professional life, beginning at age 19, Guy was an over-the-road truck driver, an occupation he treasured. More than his vocation, it was a large part of his identity. Three generations of our family looked on a ride in Papa's truck as a rite of passage. He was truly a knight of the highways.
Guy never did things by half measures; if it was worth his effort at all, it was worth his best effort, and this made him highly accomplished at whatever he put his hand to. This is a value and, more than that, wisdom he actively passed to his posterity.
Guy's greatest self-professed accomplishment was, in partnership with his wife, the melding of two distinct families, 10 teenagers at the time, into one loving, connected, and supportive family unit. Guy's entire family rallied around him during his last years. His son, Terry, came to live with him as a companion and caregiver, and many members of his extended family made the journey to spend time and make memories.
This strong, wise, and loving patriarch is survived by his devoted eternal companion of more than 50 years, Sherri Bliesner, 8 children, 35 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two siblings, two daughters, two grandsons, and a great-granddaughter.
Our deepest appreciation and gratitude go to the staff at Heritage Home Health for their attentive care and to two members of their staff in particular, Alexis and Fatima, who simply became a part of our family. Our special thanks as well goes to the staff at Elegant Living, where he spent his final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Guy's memory to the Blackfoot Animal Shelter and Rescue.
