Heather Dawn Knudsen Smith, age 48, returned to her heavenly home on September 22, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.
Born on April 29, 1977, in Pocatello, Idaho, Heather was the youngest of five children welcomed by her loving parents, Ken and Geri Knudsen. She spent her early childhood in Fort Hall, where she delighted in helping her grandparents care for their racehorses. The family later moved to Chubbuck, Idaho, where Heather attended school. It was there, in the sixth grade, that she met the love of her life, Justin Smith. The two were married in June of 2000, and together they built a beautiful life, raising their two cherished children, Brayden and Breeawna.
Heather was devoted to her family above all else and was a constant example of unconditional love, strength, and courage. She had a gift for making those around her feel cared for and included. She also had a zest for life and could usually be found wherever the fun was happening. Heather loved country dancing, playing card and board games with her family, throwing darts with Justin, and enjoying the company of her many friends and loved ones.
She is survived by her loving husband, Justin; her children, Brayden (Sabrina) and Breeawna (Kalab); and her grandchildren, Kolter, Kinsley, and a soon-to-be-born, Piper. She is also survived by her mother, Geri Knudsen, her siblings; Kevin, Rick, James, and Stephanie and a wide circle of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Emma Knudsen, Ejner Jack Knudsen, Maurine Ricks, George Ricks, and Elden Johnson; her father, Kenneth Knudsen; and her nephew, Matthew Knudsen.
