Heidi Jo Higgins

March 29, 1961 — June 24, 2023

Heidi Jo Higgins passed away peacefully in her sleep June 24,2023.

Heidi was born March 29th, 1961 in Logan, Utah to Larry Ben Call and Sandra (Joan) Mitchell Call. Her family moved frequently through Idaho, Utah, and Montana accompanying her father’s career with the Forest Service.

At the age of 12, Heidi won a public speaking competition. Many of Heidi’s most meaningful accomplishments and opportunities precipitated from her beautiful gift for speaking and presentation.

While attending Highland High School in Pocatello, Idaho, Heidi was Elected Governor of Idaho Girl’s State, the State President of Future Homemakers of America, and the State President of the Idaho Industrial Arts Association. Heidi was also named a Good Citizen of the Daughters of the American Revolution Organization, and selected to speak at her graduation ceremony.

At age 18, Heidi spoke at a Young Single Adult Fireside and made a lasting impression on Kent Higgins. They met again later that year at a New Year’s Eve dance. After the dance, Heidi went home, sat down on the corner of her mother’s bed and announced, “tonight I met the man I am going to marry.” They dated at BYU. Kent and Heidi were sealed on June 12th, 1980 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Their marriage of 43 years has seen them through their days at school in Provo, to their home in Idaho Falls, and for the last eighteen years, in Pocatello.

Heidi’s gift for speaking allowed her to become a motivational speaker, manage several political campaigns, serve as a Board Member for the Development Workshop for twenty years, and work as a Regional Marketing Manager for a national corporation. As marketing methods transitioned, Heidi became the host of her own syndicated podcast.

Heidi loved to make holidays extra special through treasured family traditions and beautiful decorations. From Idaho to Texas she was renowned for her Christmas tree decorating. Heidi loved to throw parties and invite everyone.

Kent and Heidi have enjoyed traveling together for work and for fun. They have explored many cities and sites – one favorite being Machu Picchu – but they most enjoyed traveling to see their grandchildren.

Heidi enjoyed a life filled with service, including many roles and responsibilities in each auxiliary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Heidi’s legacy is one of joy, love, service, compassion, peace, and light. Heidi’s example of service has blessed many lives. Heidi cherished her time serving with Kent in the new Pocatello Temple.

Kent and Heidi’s greatest pride and joy in life is their family of six children, their children’s spouses, and their sixteen grandchildren. She designed her home around family and wanted her grandchildren to know that their family can be together forever!

Heidi’s legacy lives on in her loving family: Her husband, Kent Higgins, and their six children: Shanda (Daniel Evans), Devin (Shelley), Shawrianna (Matthew Wolfley), Tiffany Jo (Tallen Bannister), Jacquelyne (Christopher Mandler), and Holly (Andrew Loos), as well as their sixteen grandchildren: Calen, Caitlyne, Rylee, Kimberly, Molly, Sarah, Benjamin, Justin, Charlotte, Lincoln, Jacob, Thomas, Bowen, Hudson, Ariadne, and Maci. She is also survived by her mother and her siblings, of whom she was the oldest: Scott (Ruth), Mike (Mindy), Jill (Trevor Smith), Jon (Janet), Wendy (Josh Schroeder), and Chad (Sara), as well as many nieces and nephews who adored her.

Heidi is now joyously reuniting with her father Larry Ben Call, and with her beloved grandparents: Ben and Lois Call, and Raymond and Mildred Mitchell.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the Highland Stake Center, 2140 Satterfield Dr, Pocatello, ID. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2023 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W Chubbuck Rd, Chubbuck, ID.
