On May 12, 2026, Ike passed away peacefully at home in McCammon, Idaho, surrounded by loved ones who had been the center of his world.
Some lives are built with steady hands, a quick wit, and a heart that never stops showing up. Richard Dwain “Ike” Orgill lived such a life.
Born on August 16, 1936, in Pocatello, Idaho, Ike was the fourth child of Roy and Pearl Orgill. He grew up on the Orgill family farm, where early mornings, long days, and honest work shaped him into the hardworking man everyone knew him to be. Those childhood years taught him grit, responsibility, and the quiet pride of doing things the right way — lessons he carried throughout his life.
As a young man, Ike found joy in the Idaho outdoors. Hunting and fishing weren’t just hobbies; they were traditions, shared with his sons, his brothers, and his cousin, Jan Price. Those days in the hills and along the water became some of his most treasured memories — laughter, stories, and the kind of companionship that lasts a lifetime.
Ike had a wonderful sense of humor, the kind that could lighten a room or soften a hard day. Later in life, he discovered new creative joys in painting and woodworking, crafting pieces that reflected both his patience and his imagination.
After graduating from North Marsh High School, Ike answered the call to serve his country. He joined the military and was honorably discharged from the Army in 1961 and the Air Force in 1965. His patriotism ran deep. He flew the American flag at his home every single day — a quiet, steadfast reminder of the pride he carried for his service.
In 1961, Ike met the love of his life, DeVon, and from that moment on, the two were inseparable. They married on October 12, 1962, in Pocatello, Idaho, and built a life filled with devotion, laughter, and the kind of partnership that grows stronger with time. Together they raised three sons — Tony, Kim, and Jody — and Ike poured his heart into being their father.
A Master Carpenter by trade, Ike spent most of his life building things that lasted — homes, memories, and a legacy of craftsmanship. After retiring from carpentry, Ike wasn’t one to sit still. He began volunteering and working alongside his brother Larry for the City of McCammon, a chapter of service that brought him pride, purpose, and the joy of working shoulder to shoulder with family.
In his later years, his greatest joy became the simple daily rides he took with his sweetheart, DeVon. Those quiet drives, side by side, became some of their most cherished moments.
Ike is survived by his sweetheart, DeVon Orgill; his sons Kim Orgill and Jody (Tara) Orgill; daughter-in-law Mary Harrop; his brother Russ Orgill; his “like‑a‑brother” cousin Jan Price; sister‑in‑laws Carol Orgill and Lynna Bolen; ten grandchildren — TJ, Levi, Lacy, Dylon, Mychal, Brodie, Tyson, Riley, Renner, and Flynn; and fifteen great‑grandchildren who will grow up hearing stories about the man who loved them all.
He is reunited in heaven with his parents Roy and Pearl Orgill; his brothers Terrell (Tud) Orgill and Larry Orgill; his sisters Lorraine Gillenwater and Joan Treasure; his son Tony Orgill; his daughter‑in‑law Barbara Orgill; and several beloved brothers‑ and sisters‑in‑law.
A graveside service will be held at the McCammon Norton Cemetery, with military rites at noon. A luncheon will follow at the McCammon church.
