J. Lynne Nicholes

Apr 5, 1942 — Jun 17, 2026

Twin Falls

One of the greatest love stories of this century has been put on pause as we said “not goodbye, but see you later” to our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother on June 17, 2026, at Lincoln County Care Center in Shoshone, ID. She was 84.

Judith Lynne (Brown) Nicholes was born April 5, 1942, in Salt Lake City, UT, to Shirley Greiner Johnson Brown and Donald Redford Brown. Lynne served 18 months as a young missionary in the West Central States Mission. After this adventure, she was set up on a blind date with “the most interesting man she had ever met,” Michael Erin Nicholes. Their 2-month courtship culminated in marriage for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on October 9, 1964. Seven rowdy children were born to this union, and Lynne proved up to the task of establishing a tidy, organized home centered on the Gospel of Christ as well as a true business partner to her husband.

Lynne served with Mike as LDS Mission Leaders in Seoul, Korea, from 1991-1994, then returned home to a time of quilting, crocheting, and grand mothering her 28 grandchildren. Lynne is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Conway, Robert, Bruce and Brian; sister Kristine; and son-in-law, Stephen Craig; She is survived by her brother Craig Brown (Joyce); sisters Sydney Abraham (Mike) and Debra Thornton (Jim); children Aaron Nicholes (Joyce), Julie Craig-Schnabel (Michael), Adam Nicholes (Lupita), Seth Nicholes (Candice), Jennifer Jentzsch (Ryan), Benjamin (Teira), and Shelley Baer (Mark); 28 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and her loyal husband and best friend of over 61 years, Mike.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1460 N. Morton Drive, Salt Lake City, UT 84116. A viewing will be held (Family will receive friends at a viewing) one hour prior to services. Interment will take place at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 27, 2026, in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 N St E, Salt Lake City, UT 84103.
