Jeffrey Lanier Houston

Jeffrey Lanier Houston, of McCammon, Idaho, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at age 70 after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello as he went to his Lord.

Jeff was born on January 5, 1956, to his parents J. Russell Houston and S. Joan Houston and was the oldest of their five children.

Jeff was reared to be an avid outdoorsman by his father Russ. The two of them, often with a friend of Dad’s, hunted ducks on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation for many years in duck blinds on Jimmy Drink Spring. Later on, he would go to Duck Point on the Snake River where he spent many days hunting waterfowl with friends and family. His other love was fishing often down at the fishing hole on the Portneuf River and always came home with fish. Evelyn, Jeff’s life partner, also said he loved the challenge of keeping their driveway clear in the winter driving his four-wheeler with a blade up and down, and this way and that way. It was his “winter hobby”. Evelyn and Jeff shared their lives together for 30 years.

Jeff worked numerous jobs over his life and retired from FMC as a crane operator.

Jeff is preceded in death by his son, Cole Houston and parents J. Russell Houston and S. Joan Houston.

He is survived by his life partner, Evelyn; daughter Georgia Christensen, grandchildren Cameron Christensen and Melissa (Jordan) Perry, and great-grandchildren Oden and Zayla; siblings Shawn Hunter, Kurt Houston (Tracey), Kim Hanmer (Greg), and Traci (Ross); nieces and nephews Steven, Tony, Brent, Caitlin, and Sam.

We praise God knowing Jeff is with him now, is no longer in pain, and at peace.
