Jesus Lawrence Acosta

Pocatello

Jesus Lawrence Acosta, 68, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, after a courageous battle with stage 5 kidney disease. Born on July 27, 1957, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Jose and Wanda Acosta, Jesus later moved with his family to Pocatello, Idaho.

From a young age, Jesus shared a passion for music with his brothers and father, learning to play by ear. Together, they formed the Mariachi band Los Acosta, performing throughout Idaho, Colorado, and Texas, and even recording a 45-vinyl record. Beyond music, Jesus was a self-taught mechanic whose true passion was restoring cars. Even after losing his vision, he often expressed a wish to regain it to restore one last vehicle.

On September 21, 1978, Jesus married Monique Castona, and together they raised four children: Gwenda, Joyce, Crystal, and Brandon. He dedicated 21 years of his career to FMC in Pocatello until the facility closed. Jesus then relocated to California to pursue work and be closer to his mother and sister. As his health declined, he returned to Pocatello to be near his children and grandchildren.

Jesus was a deeply giving and caring individual, known for his spontaneous gestures of love, such as surprising his daughters with chocolate milk and cookies for the grandchildren. He cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren, whether on outings to the zoo or haunted houses, finding immense joy in their company.

He is survived by his children, Gwenda Crutcher, Joyce Acosta, Crystal, (Brandon) Renfro, and Brandon Acosta, all of Pocatello. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Jade Crutcher, Dominick Krueger, Paige Krueger, Jasmine Crutcher, Devon March, Donavan Krueger, Kyah Renfro, and Ezekiell Acosta, and one great-granddaughter, Owen Jade Crutcher, all of Pocatello. He is further survived by his brother Theodore Acosta (Texas), sister Amalia Acosta Florez (Oregon), brother Antonio Acosta (California), sister Victoria Jimenez( New mexico), and many nieces and nephews.

Jesus was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Wanda Acosta, his sister Susan Ramos, his brother Jose Acosta, and his grandson Duncan Crutcher.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
