On the afternoon of July 14, 2022, Joan Harder of Pocatello died at the age of 86.
Joan was born the youngest child of Jonas and Kate Saner in Kingman, Kansas. She met and married the man she would come to know by heart, Will Harder, in 1955. From Palo Alto, California, to the family farm in Aberdeen, Idaho, they raised four children, Mike, Lorna, Lisa, and Chris.
She lit up every room with her smile. Her hospitality and creativity blessed her family and friends across the decades and miles.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Will Harder, and her son, Mike Harder (Mary), in addition to her siblings Helen Voth, Ralph Saner, and Ray Saner. She is survived by daughters Lorna Harwood (Brett) and Lisa Weaver (Matt), son Chris Harder (Rebecca), ten grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
An open house with light refreshments and a viewing will be held Sunday, July 24, 6-8pm at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck, Idaho. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on July 25, 2022, at Christ Church, 1245 N Arthur Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Aberdeen Homestead Cemetery located near the intersection of S. 3000 West and W. 2000 South in Aberdeen, Idaho; From Highway 39, turn left onto Funk Road and continue until the road ends. In lieu of flowers please make donations payable to Christ's Church for their New Start program.
