John Roscoe Seaton, 74, passed away on February 22, 2026.
On March 27, 1951. Charles and Kathryn Seaton celebrated the birth of their son John Roscoe. He joined siblings, Marla Kay and Roger. Six years later he was blessed with two more sisters Karalee, followed by Robin. John and his siblings were a close-knit family. Enduring the loss of both of their parents, who passed away in their 40’s, motivated John and his siblings to remain very close.
John spent his early childhood and youth growing up in Pocatello, Idaho. He graduated from Pocatello High School in 1969 and continued his education at Idaho State University receiving his bachelor's degree in 1981. He worked his summer in the Aleutian Islands while earning his bachelor’s degree.
His career path took him to various parts of the United States. He was a proud Union member of the Operating Engineers, Teamsters and International Laborers. He advanced quickly because of his expertise and skills in organizing labor negotiations and ensuring equal and fair treatment for workers.
His successful career culminated retiring as Regional President of Organizing for the Labors International Union of North American. His area of responsibility covered from Alaska to Mexico and West of the Mississippi.
He married Anne Smith; they were together for over 40 years. Anne passed away in 2023. Anne and John moved from Pocatello to Port Orchard, WA. His career required him to be closer to the home office in Seattle, WA. After Anne’s passing, John moved back to Pocatello.
John loved all sports, especially his favorite NFL team, the Chicago Bears. He was an avid golfer. He especially loved watching his many nieces and nephews participating in their sporting events.
He had a very gentle and kind spirit and a big heart. He loved animals and cherished the several dogs he had throughout his adult life as his children. He leaves behind Tina his beloved dog.
He would always support and defend anyone he thought was being mistreated; especially these defined as the underdog.
He was very much loved by his four siblings, Marla, Roger, Karalee and Robin and twenty plus nieces and nephews, and by his close friends Richard, Bob H., Dave, Paul and Janice Hardman. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his lifetime friend Larry Lystrup. The family would like to give special thanks to Rickelle Ferguson and Josh Hughes for their dedicated love and help to their Uncle John in the final years of his life.
