John Wesley “Wes” Lang, 75, passed away peacefully in his home on September 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Wes was born on October 19, 1950 to Dorothea and Malcolm Lang in Casper, WY and brought love, laughter, and adventure into the world. Wes went on to graduate from Golden High School before joining the U.S. Army, where he served 21 years, including two tours in Vietnam. While stationed in Kentucky, he met the love of his life, Vicki, at a USO dance on July 4, 1970. They were married August 1, 1970, and began their lifelong adventure of traveling the world and raising their three daughters: Shelly, Mariah, and Katy.
Wes was a dedicated husband and father who taught his daughters everything from how to maintain a vehicle, shoot straight, and tie a fishing knot to how to always do things right the first time, never give up, and ALWAYS keep your gas tank at least half full.
After retiring from the Army, Wes, Vicki, and their daughters moved to Pocatello, ID where they enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and camping. Once the girls were grown, Wes and Vicki took an occasional trip to Jackpot to look for their “basket and bushel of $100 bills” and often drove through the Idaho mountainside to photograph wildlife.
Wes is survived by his daughters, Shelly (Kenneth), Mariah, and Katy (James), his grandchildren Joshua, Rebecca, Taylor, Cooper, Cameron, Aidan, Akyra, and Asher, his great-grand daughter Gracie, his sisters Patti Jo, Patricia Irene, Keno, and Yvonne as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothea and Malcolm, his wife of 51 years, Vicki, his brother Howard, and his nephew Michael.
Through his family, Wes leaves behind his love for music and nature.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
