A Legacy of Love and Resilience: Remembering Jose Vega

Jose Vega, a man whose life was a testament to hard work, devotion, and unwavering love for his family, passed away on July 19th, 2025, in Bountiful, Utah. Born on January 9th, 1948, in Nevada, to Juan Vega and Ethel Irene Frazier, Jose’s journey began with humble roots and blossomed into a life rich with family and meaningful connections.

In his early years, Jose honed his skills in construction, working diligently throughout Boise and Pocatello. His passion extended beyond buildings, as he also found joy and satisfaction in working on vehicles. After spending his early adulthood in Boise, fate led him back to Pocatello, where he met the love of his life, Erma Marie LeVels. Their marriage on February 24th, 1972, marked the beginning of a beautiful chapter, as they welcomed five wonderful children into the world: Irene, Nakia, Carlos, Shaade, and Constance. Later in life, after the passing of his beloved Erma, Jose was blessed with another child, Jorel, who brought him immense joy and renewed purpose to his life.

More than just a father, Jose Vega was a pillar of strength and a wellspring of love for his entire family. He was the family's trusted "Mr. Fix It," a skilled mechanic who could mend not only machines but also hearts. He poured his energy into ensuring his family felt loved, valued, and secure. He instilled in each of us the values of strength and independence, qualities that will serve us well throughout our lives. Jose was the person you could always depend on, a man who never hesitated to lend a hand, no matter the size of the problem. His presence was a constant source of comfort and reassurance.

The loss of Jose leaves a void that can never be truly filled. It feels like losing a vital chapter from our family’s history book, but what a glorious tale that chapter told! Jose leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory. He is survived by his four sisters, Erlinda Vega, Juanita Torres, Anita Lavos, and Carmen Lorenzo, as well as his two brothers, Johnny Vega and Ralph Arroyo. His legacy continues through his seven children, Irene Vega, Nakia Vega, Carlos Vega, Shaade Vega, Constance Vega, Tina Devoe, and Jorel Vega. He also leaves behind a legacy of love in his grandchildren: Steven Ross, Nathan Vega, Sidney Vega, Savannah Vega, Angel Galloway, Anthony Vega, Tyrell Christensen, Skyler Christensen, Tyller Christensen, and Harmony Christensen, Kiara Mckee along with numerous greatgrandchildren.

Jose was preceded in death by his father, Juan Vega, his mother, Ethel Frazier, his beloved wife, Erma Marie Vega, and several brothers and sisters, along with other cherished family members.

Though his physical presence is gone, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. The pain of his absence is a testament to the depth of our love, but it is also intertwined with the joy that came from knowing him. While saying goodbye was incredibly difficult, we are grateful for the time we had with a man who made saying goodbye so hard. Jose Vega's legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering devotion will continue to inspire his family for generations to come.
