Judith Ann Steadman

Judith Ann (Mooney) Steadman, passed away on October 19, 2025 in Idaho Falls, Idaho at the age of 83.

Judy was born to Merle Mooney and Hazel Edmonds Mooney in Harlem, Montana on January 3, 1942. She was the third of four children. Judy spent the majority of her life in Idaho. She attended school as a child in Boise and it was there that she joined the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which she always said changed the remainder of her life.

Judy started teaching school in Burley, Idaho, but soon moved with the principal of her school to teach in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was there that she met the love of her life, Gerald (Jerry) Steadman, and on June 11, 1964, they were married in the Logan temple. They started their family in Las Vegas with the birth of Jamiece, and then moved to Salt Lake City where Justin and Jeffrey were born. Jerry’s job later took them to Pocatello, Idaho where Jared was born. She and Jerry then spent the next 47 years living in Pocatello.

Judy was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and spent her life trying to instill those same values in her children and grandchildren. She served in many callings in the church and later in life, she and Jerry served as missionaries in Nurnberg, Germany. After arriving home from their mission, they served for many years as temple workers in the Idaho Falls temple.

Judy is survived by her children, Jamiece (Marc) Murphy of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Justin (Kayce) Steadman of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Jeffrey (Nikole) Steadman of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Jared (Erin) Steadman of Pocatello, Idaho, 16 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren, and her brother Roger Mooney of Spokane, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Hazel, and by her brothers Charles and Stephen. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Wilks Funeral Home at 211 W. Chubbuck Road in Pocatello, Idaho. Services will begin at 1:00 pm. There will be a viewing with family and friends at the same location beginning at 11:30 am.
