Karla was born to William and Elma Lott on October 1, 1943. She spent her early years in Heyburn, ID. The family moved to Rupert when she was 14 where she attended Minico High School.

She married Russell D. Wynn on June 6, 1963 at the Lutheran Church. They settled in American Falls where they raised their 3 children, Joe, Jeff, and Andrea. Karla had a good life with Russ in American Falls and enjoyed raising the kids there.

She played golf, walked, and was able to take several trips to cities and visit many art galleries. After she turned 40, she attended Idaho State University where she found her calling in art. It is at ISU where she began her lifelong journey of learning about art and how to produce paintings and sculptures.

Karla loved the mountains and Yellowstone Park. Among her favorite places were Petit Lake in the Stanley basin and San Francisco, CA.
