Karleen Edith Michaels Lish passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026 of an apparent heart attack, just two days before her birthday and a trip to Jackpot she had been so looking forward to. She was 84 years old.
Karleen was born on February 26, 1941, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to Bob and Alice Michaels. She has 1 brother, Paul (Karen) of Pasco, Washington.
Karleen was truly one of a kind. She was a spit-fire firecracker and could swear like a trucker. You never had to guess what she was thinking — she told you plainly and honestly. Her bold personality, quick wit, and sharp sense of humor filled every room she entered. She was fiercely independent, hardworking, and protective of those she loved.
Behind her tough exterior was a woman who loved deeply and stood loyally by her family and friends. She valued honesty above all else and lived life on her own terms.
On August 22, 1959 she married Dennis Don Lish. Together they built a life and were blessed with four children: Debbie (Alan) Cutforth of American Falls; Shawn of Arbon Valley; Michelle (Dan) Finck of Blackfoot; and Karrin (Mark) Massey of Chubbuck. Though Dennis and Karleen later divorced, they shared many years and memories together while raising their family.
Karleen was a dedicated and compassionate woman who worked for several years as a CNA and Hospice Home Health Aide. She found great joy in caring for others and took pride in the comfort and kindness she offered to those in need. Her work was more than a job — it was a reflection of her giving heart.
Weekends were often spent enjoying the simple pleasures of life. She loved trips to Twin Lakes boating, gathering firewood for the wood stove, and spending time outdoors with family. In her later years, she especially enjoyed outings to Jackpot and visits to Fort Hall Casino, which brought her excitement and something special to look forward to.
Above all, Karleen cherished her family. Nothing made her happier than visits filled with conversation and laughter. She loved big hugs and often expressed her gratitude by saying, “You take good care of me.” Her warmth, appreciation, and love for her children and extended family will forever be remembered.
Karleen will be deeply missed by her children, their spouses, her brother Paul, and her grandchildren, great grandchildren and all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of kindness, resilience, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
She will be forever loved and never forgotten.
There will be a celebration of her life, March 14, 2026 from 12:00 - 4:00 pm at the Chiefs Event Center, 777 Bannock Trail, Fort Hall, Idaho.
