Karol "Screwy" Faddis, 79, of Evanston, Wyoming, passed away in Mountain Home, Idaho, on August 5, 2025. She was born on July 4, 1946, in Coalville, Utah, to Hubert and Vyola Faddis. She was raised on her family’s ranch in Almy, Wyoming.
Having grown up in a ranching family, Karol was instilled with a strong work ethic that she carried throughout her life. She spent many years as a dedicated rancher’s wife, a job that reflected her hardworking spirit. She was also a beloved school bus driver for more than a decade and had a special connection with children of every age. Always a self-learner, Karol loved to read and advance her knowledge in everything, including additional education in cosmetology, psychology, English and computer courses with the hopes of eventually becoming a teacher.
Karol was deeply patriotic. Although she was born on the Fourth of July, she always emphasized that it was the country's birthday before hers. Her favorite color was royal blue, but she loved to see the red, white and blue colors assembled together. Family gatherings were her joy, often filled with music from her favorite country artists, where she would sing and play the piano. She was self-taught on the piano, guitar and accordion, which she played all exceptionally well. She expressed her creativity and emotions through various hobbies including playing the piano, writing extensive letters, crocheting elaborate doilies, collecting rocks and gathering old sheet music along her travels. She also enjoyed making her famous “buck-skin bread” (aka potato scones) for the annual Cyprus High grad night in Magna, Utah.
A proud member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Karol held several callings throughout her life. Karol's faith was an important aspect of her life, and she continuously encouraged prayer in every situation. The Lord’s Prayer was especially important to her.
Karol was a vibrant soul known for her unique personality, marked by her quick wit and unpredictable nature. She often pushed the boundaries of personal space, which was both amusing and uncomfortable for those around her. But despite her quirks, Karol's love for people was undeniable. If Karol could be summed up in one word, it would be “fearless.” There really wasn’t anything she couldn’t do. Karol's life was one of enduring affection and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Karol is survived by her children, Thom Bruce (Rhonda) of Hailey, Idaho; Sandy Lancaster (Jake) of Magna, Utah; Kimberlee Jo West (Dan) of Mountain Home, Idaho; Chad Bruce (Pam) of Payette, Idaho; Johnie Bruce of Clinton, Utah; and Bonnee Bregeeta L. Hislop (Kyle) of Evanston, Wyoming. She also leaves behind 32 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 2 unborn great-grandchildren, 3 brothers and 5 sisters (most of her siblings reside in Evanston). She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Hubert and Vyola Faddis; her husband, Marvin Danielson; her brother, Lerry Faddis; her sister, Annette Faddis; and her granddaughter, Kylee Bruce.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor at 55 County Road 107, Evanston, Wyoming, on September 27, 2025, from 3-6 PM. Open to all who knew Karol.
